Artist Spotlight: Marian Bantjes

To make up for my previous ultra-left-brain-geeky post I'd like to share with you an artist that I have run across that is up and coming. Marian Bantjes. Her craft is unique, she's ahead of the times, I'm predicting her style will be seen more sooner rather than later.

I first saw her work in the December 2004 issue of Details Magazine, but didn't know who it was. I ripped the page out and put it on my "inspiration wall"-a collage of really cool design that is trendy, classic, and all the rage. I was like, "huh...that's cool" and then didn't really think much of it.

Then I received a free font design booklet from Font Shop (nerd alert!) and it had six pages dedicated to Marian's intricate design work. I don't have a way to show it here, but it's in my office for those who are able to see me at work. The detail is phenomenal. I wish it were on her website, but it's not.

Some of her stuff reminds me of a grandmother's cross-stitching that has come unraveled. She does work with patterns that is quite amazing too. When you get a chance check out her website and keep an open eye...You'll see her soon.

I am a big Bantjes fan too. We were thrilled that she agreed to be a part of font magazine.

A small piece of Marian's piece can be seen on the subscription page. We'll have all the content up on the site soon, but folks can still subscribe to the mag in the meantime.
